Microsoft released XP in October 2001 in different editions. Windows XP Pro was the most demanded edition due to its powerful features. The basic features are the same in all editions, but Pro edition has some very useful features for businessmen and professionals.

Microsoft stopped its official support for Windows XP. But users still want to use it for their research work or for only fun.

Methods to Create Windows XP Pro Bootable USB (Installation Guide)

You can use different methods to create a bootable USB flash drive. I have discussed three easy methods in this context. Follow any of them and installation guide to enjoy Windows XP Pro.

Method # 1: Create Bootable USB via Easy USB Creator 2.3.1 Tool

This tool supports Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8 10 and Windows Server all editions.

Download “.NET Framework 2.0 or above” from Microsoft’s official site if you want to use this tool. It converts the ISO image into a bootable USB drive. It is a straightforward tool and converts Windows XP ISO image into a bootable USB drive.

  1. Connect a USB flash drive with the PC.
  2. Download the ISO file of Windows XP Pro from the above section.
  3. Download the Easy USB Creator 2.3.1 from Here.
  4. Double-click the “.exe file” to install it.
  5. Now, launch the tool.
  6. It shows a sign like “…” this with the ISO file option. Select this sign to add the path of the Windows XP ISO file.
  7. Next, you will see “Destination Drive.” Select a drive where you want to save the “executable file” and click “Start.”
  8. The tool will start converting the ISO image into a bootable file. Within a minute, your bootable USB is ready. Move to the installation guide.

Method # 2: Bootable USB/DVD of Zipped Windows XP ISO

  1. If you have a zipped Windows XP ISO file, download 7-Zip Extractor. 7-Zip Extractor will extract the files from the zipped folder.
  2. Go to the above section to download ISO file. Once it is downloaded, double-click the ISO image to extract files.
  3. Now, burn them into a bootable Windows XP ISO DVD/USB flash drive by using the above tool.
  4. Your bootable DVD/USB flash drive is ready now. You can use it to install Windows XP on your desired system.
  5. Move to the installation guide.

Method # 3: Bootable USB/DVD via USB Creator 2.0 (Microsoft’s Tool)

USB Creator 2.0 tool is available at Microsoft’s official site. Download it from there and follow the instructions below.

  1. Connect the USB to your PC.
  2. Download the ISO file from the above section.
  3. Select USB/DVD to save the ISO image.
  4. Now, open the tool “USB Creator 2.0” and select “Browse” to locate the ISO file.
  5. Below this option, there is “Destination Drive.”
  6. Select the USB drive from here.
  7. Now click the “Create USB” option at the bottom of the tool. It will start converting the ISO image into the Bootable USB.

Installation Guide

(First, enter in BIOS to enable the option “Installation from USB”.) For this, follow the steps here.

  1. Reboot system and press “Del” to enter BIOS. (If your system is showing any other key, like F1, F2, press it.
  2. Select “Advanced BIOS settings” by using Up/Down or Right/Left arrow keys.
  3. Press “USB as the primary boot device” and “F10” to exit BIOS.
  4. Now, connect your bootable USB to the system and restart it.
  5. First, select the PC version. Mostly it is 32-bit.
  6. Select “Install from USB” and click “Next” from there.
  7. The system starts copying files from the USB drive.
  8. Make partitions of the hard disk drive by assigning a relevant volume to each partition.
  9. Select a partition where you want to save Windows XP Pro.
  10. It will collect information first.
  11. Then Dynamic Updates are installed.
  12. Now, it shows that it’s preparing installation.
  13. Ultimately, the installation is finalized.
  14. Now, wait for a while until it completes the installation process. It may take about 40 minutes.
  15. The PC restarts several times in between. Don’t interrupt the installation process.
  16. Now set the time and date according to the geographical location.
  17. Enjoy using Windows XP Pro.

You can backup in Windows XP Pro by using the standard Win2k backup program.

It supports dynamic disks while other editions of this OS don’t support it.

It has Encrypted File System to let you encrypt files on an NTFS partition. This feature is very useful for mobile machines.

It has a remote assistance feature to troubleshoot problems. You can access a remote desktop by using it.

Now, access any system remotely by using a Terminal Services session. It’s highly beneficial to access data from a remote computer.

It supports Windows 98 and Windows Me programs. You can upgrade from both Windows OS to Windows XP Pro.

It also supports Win2K and NT.

It supports IP Security, Client Services for NetWare, SNMP and Network Monitor. Other editions of XP don’t support them.


Q: Can I install Windows XP Pro in multiple systems by using one bootable USB?

No, you can’t. Windows XP Pro’s copy is only for one user. If there are 10 users, all of them need a separate copy of Windows XP.

Can I play DOS games on Windows XP Pro?

Yes, but it supports only the old games. If you want to play the latest DOS games, you require a DOS emulator like DOSBox.

It may involve some risks because Microsoft has stopped official support for it. So, the features may be attractive, but your system will not be secure.
